I like the one in CT, when the char's and enemies's positions are actually important for the battle,
(like when enemies stand together in groups, some atacks will hurt them all) I know Karate, Taekwando and Jujutsu, but I wont fight you I don't know Karate Taekwando or Jujutsu, be angry at someone else! *sniff* The icons are teasing me.... |

Well that is really not hard to answer for me because there is only 2 systems that I have played. Turn based and ATB. ATB is heavily used so that leads me to favor it. ATB really lowers the difficulty level because you know when your characters will attack opposed to Turn based when you have some idea of when but not entirely sure. I like Turn based better because it gets me more in the game.

*agrees with Sage* The Battle system in FFX was my favorite part of the game. Start all yer fast people, then swap in the slow, powerful fighters. Pre-emptive smack! *evil laughter*

[!] Sorry for joining in so late..[!] My favorite battle system is with Final Fantasy Tactics. I love how you can customize your character with the numerous abilities and weapons and how it is so strategic, instead of the traditional "Lined Up" battle system that has a turn-to-turn basis of attack and defend.

You know I really like Tactics's system better than any other TRPG out there including Tactics Ogre. They really take turns and they prevent ganging up on a enemy or me. When you do something, you consider the time it takes to cast the spell or to do the action and you gotta plan ahead and hope enemies will do something that you want them to do. So Final Fantasy Tactics is quite cool but I prefer Turn based so that it all depends and you sort of pray when things happens.

My favorite battle system is a tie between FFX and FFII (NES). FFII's leveling up system is exactly how I like it and FFX's separate character runs make it awesome.
