A tip: Download Final Fantasy gold from kazaa, you get games 1-6 and emulators to run them.

Yeah, you gotta go and build up levels in the beginning, makes it easier since theres alot more random encounters in it then the later ones.
I know Karate, Taekwando and Jujutsu, but I wont fight you I don't know Karate Taekwando or Jujutsu, be angry at someone else! *sniff* The icons are teasing me.... |

Beware of Lich and its nuke spells. If you really need help, contact me and I'll see if I can find the book. I still have a strategy guide for FF1. Been a long time since I played that.

Well, my emulator won't save my games for battery paks: Crystalis, FF1, and a few others, so I can't go farther than Chapter One. Too bad...
I was just wondering, what are your guys's opinions on which set of characters are best to use? I've used all characters and I like Fig-BMa-WMa-RMa, but I also like Fig-BBe-WMa-RMa. So which do you think I should use. I like having all possible spells in my inventory, so the former works best for me. But I also like a little extra power, which puts both at least average due to the Fighter. However, that also puts the latter ahead one point. So which set do you think I should use? Try to suggest some better sets if this isn't good. Also, I've seen Romku play FFX. I saw that his characters could MUG, or steal things. I was wondering if the thief or any other character on FF1 did that. That way I can substitute when I find out how to save on the NESTICLE95.EXE emulator. I do just fine on WINNES006.EXE, but it runs too slow. So any help to fix that problem will be appreciated too. "Welcome to Corneria." |

The "Beginners" Party consists of the a Fighter, Black Belt, white mage, Black Mage. However the first party i beat the game with was a fighter, thief, black belt, and a red mage.

I know you guys don't know this, even though Romku does, but I'm a spell kinda guy. I love spells in my inventory and they're hecka powerful. I've decided that my ideal set is Fighter, Black, Red, and White Mages as I could have the Black and White Mages learn 3 of their respective magics and the Red can learn the other two extras and one other spell of choice. The spells I have are: Black: Lv. 1 Lit, Fire, and Slep, Lv. 2 Ice, Dark, and the one other than Tmpr. White: Lv. 1 Cure, Harm, and Ruse, Lv. 2 ALit, and two other ones. Red: Lv. 1 Lock, Fog, and Lit, Lv. 2 Tmpr and Lamp. I can't tell what Ruse and Fog do except I do know that Fog increases defense while Ruse increases attack. At least that's what I was told. I have no clue as to what are the best weapons to equip my characters with. I know the Fighter needs the Rapier, but I don't know about the White, Black, and Red Mages. Later weapons I know of are the Sabre for the Fighter, but the Iron Wand or Staff doesn't equip to the Mages. By the way, I have a strategy guide from a How To Win At Nintendo Games book, but it doesn't suggest many weapons. It says that the Silver Sword is way overpriced for what it does. However I can vouch that it does note some handy ways to get through. It even notes an interesting puzzle cheat. "Press B 55 times while holding down the A Button while on the boat in order to get to a number puzzle where you slide the numbers around and get them in order. There is no reward for accomplishing this, but it can provide hours of fun." It doesn't appeal to me, but it may to you. Just thought I'd pass that along. All help is still accepted and thank you guys SOOOOOOO much for the help. I've got II and III now, but I plan on finishing the first before going on. Another note is listed in OOC...
(OOc: This is probably out of topic, so I'll post it here. I find that the major difference between the Zelda games and the Final Fantasy games is the storyline. Zelda games tend to use the same characters, yet twist the plot enough to make it worth the $20-50 that you pay for it. However, the Final Fantasy games have totally different characters AND plotlines that add a nice hunk of variety and makes all of them worth the other $20-50 you pay for them. A little idea I have for Squaresoft: Name the main characters of the first few FF games that the main ones don't have games, add the characters of later games into a single plotted game that has to do with a mysterious new time machine or dimensional portal or something. This could make for many awesome chapters and increase the power of the characters immensly...however make the final boss, the guy behind all the FF baddies, a twisted, demented warlord or something. This would take many of the characters to beat him, but have the engine run as such: choose four out of maximum 8 possible current party members. This would make gameplay much easier, but is countered, however, by the warlord's clone army of major and final bosses of previous FF games. This idea could suck...or rule. It's totally up to you.) Wouldn't it be best if you startet at FF/FF8/FF9/FF10?
I think that's the best way to start. Not on a retro-game... PS: My first post! Weehi. |

I disagree. I believe you should start from the beginning and appreciate its heritage. That will show evolution through time and the fundamentals of turn based strategy and later the active turn based strategy which is stated in my editorial if Yed would just post it! Nag yed not me.

Ramza, the link I have found best, and also contains the Nesticle, a very potent version of NES emulators, at the site, is Ultimate NES Roms. It contains well over 200 free NES games and it allows you to go on the forums and suggest some games. It has the first three FF games, and all work well! So get the games, and Nesticle95, and unzip them with WinZip or MacZip and you'll be fine and ready to go!
As for FF games, I'm mostly working on FFII. However, if you guys could get me a book on all the magic spell effects for FFI, II, and III, and type it out, it'll save me countless hours of useless playing to figure out what they do. It'll also help when I get a new magic and am forced to use it on a powerful enemy. Thanks! "Welcome to Corneria." |

FF2? Main character is Cecil? If it is, I am also working on it. I'm charging up for the last boss, actually. I had to blow all of my cash on supplies LOL. There goes 150000+Gp.

Well, first off, I'd like to say that I'm doing FFI, II, and III at the same time. I like FF II and III's battle styles. Also, I like FF II's way of powring up with skill levels instead of LEVEL levels. I kinda screwed up my FF II game cuz I accidentaly saved the game right as I was walking into a battle with 2 Antlions and 2 Chimeras...WITH 26 HP LEFT ON MY MAIN GUY AND 30 HP ON MY THIRD GUY, APPROPRIATELY NAMED KING...so I started anew and am well of to a BETTER start. I'll take in any infor still. One question: in FF II, what stats/magic/items/etc. should I have before facing a Captain? I just got an idea, but I want a sure bet win. So if you guys could help me... Nevermind then, I'm playing the US FF2, not the OG FF2 like you.
