I went alb about 3 weeks after I sold you the BM. I was still somewhat
addicted to the game, and I loved the MLF. I had the BM for almost a year,
and I wanted something new, so I went to alb. Last June, I quit for 6
months, and reactivated over Christmas. The mins is still only level 49 (In
college, dont have as much time as I would like) but it was fun to run into
ya. I have been wanting to do that ever since I reactivated. Well it was fun
running into ya, and have fun and hope to run into ya some more. I have some
screen shots from last night if you would like to take a look at them:

Dark Age of Camelot — A DAOC Story in 4 Parts (and an Epilogue)

Dark Age of Camelot (DAoC) was a massively multiplayer online role-playing game released by Mythic Entertainment in 2001. Set in a mythological world divided into three realms — Hibernia, Albion, and Midgard — the game was best known for its large-scale Realm vs. Realm (RvR) combat, where hundreds of players would clash in open-world battlegrounds for control of keeps and relics. It was a major competitor to EverQuest in the early 2000s MMORPG market.

This file is a personal archive: four screenshots from a February 2004 late-night session on the Morgan le Fay (MLF) server, followed by the email exchange that followed. The backstory: a Blademaster — a Hibernian melee class — had been sold to another player the previous March. Nearly a year later, the original owner had rerolled to Albion and ran into the character by chance during RvR. The email chain that followed is a genuine snapshot of how MMORPG players communicated and formed connections in 2004 — no Discord, no Steam friends list, just a Hotmail address and Outlook Express.

The Morgan le Fay server was one of the most active and competitive DAoC communities of the era. MLF had its own message board on VN Boards (IGN's fan community boards), where players posted realm war updates, debated class balance, and organized guilds. The MLF community was tight-knit enough that running into a character you had sold months earlier — and recognizing it — was entirely plausible.

FieRcEYeD: VNBoards activity and DAoC character-name history

FieRcE YeD identifies VNBoards / IGN account FieRcEYeD, numeric user ID 711096, as his account. The 76 modern IGN post URLs listed below are dated December 5, 2002 through August 3, 2005 and cover Blademaster and Celtic Dual / Dual Wield discussions, later Minstrel posts, and Classic-server posts. These are supplied activity locators, not 76 independently reverified live posts; their current availability has not all been established.

One additional VNBoards reply was independently verified in cached Wayback HTML captured November 2, 2002 at 02:48:46 UTC. The Morgan le Fay thread identifies FieRcEYeD as user 711096 and message 37673642, dated October 3, 2002 (the year follows from capture and thread context). The reply asks, "Am I one of those jerks in Unforgiven?" and includes a smiley. Its captured signature reads "Fierceyed YourAdHereFIVEGOLD Lvl 45 Blademaster" and "Fierceyedtwo Lvl 16 Bard". Guild affiliation is implied rather than explicitly stated; server association follows from the board context. Signature and profile fields are capture-time evidence and may have changed after posting.

FieRcE YeD recalls needing a unique character name when he rerolled on Morgan le Fay. During a real-life phone conversation, a player named Mope, whom he believes was a Mentalist, pronounced his character name as "Fierce eyed". He recalls adopting that reading and adding the extra e, resulting in Fierceeyed. The phone conversation and reason for the spelling are his recollection; the screenshot independently preserves the visible spelling.
