Dusk 2.6 — a complete, runnable client for Dusk, a Java-based 2D graphical MUD (GMUD) engine created by Tom Weingarten around 2000. Includes compiled Java bytecode and all platform launchers (Linux, Windows, MacOS). The only in-client attribution is the about string: "Dusk Client v2.6 -- http://dusk.wesowin.org/" — no author name or copyright notice anywhere in the bytecode. The project was later continued on SourceForge under the handle lone_wolf_ga. Compiled targeting Java 1.1 (class file major version 45) — conservative even for 2001. The readme specifies JVM 1.3 as the minimum runtime. This install contains three intact server profiles with their own map, sprite, player, and audio assets — a snapshot of the early Dusk ecosystem as it existed in spring/summer 2001: darkstar (dusk.wesowin.org:7423) — The largest world in this set, with a 97KB map roughly 3–4x the size of the others. Assets dated April 26, 2001. Likely the most developed world running on wesowin.org at the time. newdusk (4.33.83.55:7420) — Port 7420 was the canonical default Dusk port. This IP may represent the primary server run by the engine's creator. The only profile with audio assets (sfx/0.au, sfx/1.au). Assets dated March–April 2001. sluggy (dusk.wesowin.org:7425) — A second world on the wesowin.org host, likely themed around the webcomic Sluggy Freelance (a major presence in early 2000s internet culture). Most recently updated assets in this set, dated July 20, 2001. The active Dusk revival community (ZabinX/DuskRPG on GitHub) has been working from version 2.7.3 and later. This 2.6 client with its three 2001 server worlds does not appear to be archived elsewhere.
