FinalFantasyFanatic.com was a full fan site — news, commentary, editorials, images, MIDI files, and more. The forums were one part of it. This snapshot contains the forums only; the separately restored website is described in the "Website — November 2002" help topic.
The forums went through several iterations over their lifetime: originally hosted on EZBoards, then migrated to Ikonboard 2.1.9, and eventually upgraded to Ikonboard 3. The version recovered here is Ikonboard 3 from the November 2002 backup.
The forum archive covers 49 members, 239 topics, 4,167 posts across 11 forums covering Final Fantasy discussion, role-playing, general gaming, community games, and an inner circle section called FFOC. The member community was small and tight-knit — a snapshot of the kind of fan forums that existed before Reddit, before Discord, before social media made community-building trivial.
The archive is fully browsable: forum index, topic lists, individual threads with posts, member profiles, avatars, signatures, ranks, and polls. BBCode formatting, emoticons, and the original Ikonboard skin are all preserved.
Note: This is not a complete preservation. Some posts were redacted or removed to protect the personally identifiable information of members who never consented to their data being republished — including threads where members shared their full name, location, and birthdate, and at least one video that was simply better left buried.
The forum includes a single pinned admin note — "Why I Recreated This" — posted by FieRcE YeD (the site's original admin) in March 2026. It is rendered in the exact same Ikonboard thread format as every other post in the archive — avatar, rank, post count, timestamp, the works — but the date is 2026 and the content is entirely modern. It explains how a Reddit thread about the site sparked the recovery effort, how the Ikonboard backup was extracted using AI, and what was found (and redacted) along the way. This admin note is the only non-period post in the archive. Every other post is authentic — real text written by real members in 2002.
