Legal & Parody Notes — Fictional Desktop, Authentic Archives

Doors 98 combines a parody desktop, authentic historical archives, software recreations, and modern commentary. The desktop shell and fictional apps use altered names, exaggerated interfaces, and invented messages; they are not affiliated with or endorsed by the companies and products they reference. This description does not turn the historical collections into fiction.

Recovered websites, forum posts, artwork, code, and other artifacts are historical material. Original names and wording may be retained where appropriate. Modern retrospectives, admin updates, and restoration annotations are identified separately; historical statements reflect their original authors and time, not necessarily the views of this project today.

Archival editions may include compatibility fixes, repaired text encoding and images, lost-asset placeholders, and privacy redactions. They are not guaranteed to be complete or pixel-perfect reproductions. The FFF archive documents these changes in its banners, cloud icons, and public historical notes.

Third-party names, trademarks, artwork, writing, and software remain the property of their respective owners. Preservation here does not claim ownership, imply endorsement, or grant permission to reuse or redistribute that material. The FFF website archive does not reoffer its original music, movie, or other downloads; surviving traffic reports are evidence of those files, not download replacements.
