'Murica Web — AOL America Online Parody
A parody of AOL (America Online) — the dominant online service of the 1990s that acted as the internet for millions of users. Features a full AOL 4.0-style interface including a three-step dial-up connection screen with modem sounds, a toolbar, keyword bar, welcome dialog, and a Friend List of real AIM screen names from the creator's actual buddy list circa 1999–2002. References include "You've Got Mail", chat rooms, and AOL as a curated gateway to the web.
SmarterChild is featured in the Friend List. SmarterChild was one of the most iconic AIM bots of the early 2000s — an automated chatbot created by ActiveBuddy that millions of AOL Instant Messenger users had on their buddy list. It could answer questions, give sports scores, tell jokes, and hold basic conversations, making it an early precursor to modern AI assistants like Siri and Alexa. It is available to chat with inside 'Murica Web.
In his September 16, 2026 first-person account, FieRcE YeD identifies Island_Yed as his earlier MSN Gaming Zone / Age of Empires handle, approximately 1998-2002. He belonged to Island clan, then moved to FieRcE clan. He later used FieRcE_YeD, also styled FieRcEYeD and Fierceyed, in FinalFantasyFanatic and other communities.
FieRcE YeD recalls Island clan specializing in Small Islands, especially deathmatch, with Island_Czar as its primary leader. He also recalls Island_Privateer as an Island player. He believes the clan had a Homestead website; its address and a contemporary roster have not been recovered.
FieRcE YeD identifies the Island_Czar / IslandCzar contact in his surviving historical AIM buddy list as the same Island clan leader remembered as islandczar in the Age of Empires forum recollection below. This AIM-to-Zone identity connection is FieRcE YeD's first-person identification; the original contact-list artifact was not independently verified in this research pass. Island_Czar is unrelated to Czar Ben from Final Fantasy VI: The Power Within (TPW).
FieRcE YeD also remembers __Ch0s0n__ and __R00k__ as exceptionally good players in that community. This recollection does not establish that either player belonged to Island or FieRcE clan.
FieRcE YeD remembers Island_Privateer as Australian and a great Small Islands deathmatch player. He would come close, but recalls never beating Privateer in their matches.
FieRcE YeD remembers one particularly epic match against an opponent using a different name. He was down to perhaps three ships and one town center, with no supplies left, when the opponent accused him of cheating two or three times. He says he was not cheating in that match. He recalls having a trainer for what he then considered protection, with the intention of only using it if someone else cheated first. The match eventually disconnected and he received a loss. He is fairly sure the opponent was Privateer, though the different name leaves that identification uncertain. He says Privateer did not cheat during gameplay. He assumes Privateer caused the disconnect, but does not know how it happened; that attribution is his assumption.
QQNoRE, in post 138 on 2019-12-27, writes: "islandczar(loved playing small island dm maps with you)". QQNoRE independently remembers islandczar in the rated AoE rooms and playing Small Island DM. Nearby names include gizmo51, SuPaDeaDLy, Quantum. The post does not establish Island clan leadership or membership, an AIM identity, a Homestead address, FieRcE membership, or the Island_Yed to FieRcE_YeD transition. QQNoRE is the recollection's author, not an alias of Island_Czar.
