pol-2026.txt — Green Trainers Online and the POL Dream (2026)

A note filed alongside the POL artifacts in the Downloads folder. In August 2026 a fan project called Green Trainers Online surfaced, turning Pokémon Emerald into an online multiplayer game that runs directly in a web browser with no emulator required — players supply their own ROM. Its feature list reads like guilds, a custom quest system, in-game character customization, real-time trading and trade evolutions, friends, private messaging, global chat, auto-save, and server-synced time. Nintendo's lawyers will almost certainly go nuclear on it, as they are prone to do. But it is precisely what the original Pokemon Online (POL) was trying to achieve during the Bulbagarden era around 2000–2001 — the game a bored 18-year-old would have loved to see come to fruition.
