Epic's Memorial

During May 2001, skepticism began to emerge that POL would actually release and a user named "Epic" caused significant drama by denying its existence. This is a "memorial" created by "Gamer(freak)" in response to Epic's denial of POL's existence and his subsequent ban from the POL forums. Built with The Games Factory (precursor to Clickteam's Multimedia Fusion), the application still runs perfectly on Windows 11 (2026). It has also been rebuilt as a working in-browser recreation on this desktop — open Epic.exe on the desktop, or visit /epic-memorial. Below is the text preserved within the executable, transcribed verbatim from the eleven text pages stored in Epic.gam — spelling and spacing are the author's: "Many Poeple may know the user "Epic" on the Pol forums. He was once very dedicated to pol. He would wait in joy for pol to come out and while he was waiting he would come up with many innovations that people would forever try to duplicate. Some of his innovations were The House dev kit, Pol Comicz, and the Pol Chat room among others. Exactly 3 Weeks ago epic, decided he did not believe that pol was coming out at all and that koni made the whole game up. Many people tried to convince epic that Pol was real but he refused to believe such a game actually existed. Then on May 11, 2001 07:13 PM, Epic Posted a topic titled, "**the email**", i where he bashed about how Pol was fake and that he started a chain letter saying pol was fake. Koni was not angry at epic but kinda glad, as he was going to humilate epic in pol with a statue saying "Epic Statue: In tribute to the biggest moron alive." and underneath have it will read 'I have an inflated ego'. Since then hes Banned. So now i Gamer(freak), Epics Best Bud, would like to take the time to dedicate this memorial to Epic, the greatest moron in Pol History. I shall now dedicate this statue to him."
